About FCAAI

Advancing Climate Resilience, Sustainable Agriculture, and Community-Led Development

Who We Are

The Foundation for Climate Action and Agriculture Initiative (FCAAI) is a mission-driven, action-focused organisation dedicated to delivering practical climate adaptation, sustainable agriculture, and resilience solutions for vulnerable and underserved communities. FCAAI works at the intersection of environmental protection, food systems transformation, and inclusive development, translating global and national commitments into measurable local impact.

We are a community of practitioners, researchers, and community partners united by the belief that climate change must be met with solutions that are evidence-based, locally grounded, and scalable. Our work strengthens livelihoods, safeguards ecosystems, and expands opportunities for women, youth, and marginalised populations to participate in climate action and economic transformation.

FCAAI is anchored in Nigeria with growing partnerships across West Africa, and we collaborate with communities, government agencies, development partners, civil society, and private actors to co-create sustainable outcomes.

Our Mission

FCAAI exists to champion grassroots climate action and agricultural development by empowering local leaders, deploying community-driven innovation, and partnering with institutions to scale impact that is just, inclusive, and lasting.

Our Vision

To build a climate-resilient Nigeria where vulnerable communities, especially women and youth, lead the restoration of ecosystems, transform agriculture, and secure sustainable livelihoods.

Core Values

People-Centred Partnership

Communities are co-designers, not beneficiaries. We prioritise local voices, leadership, and ownership at every stage of programme development and implementation.

Integrity & Accountability

We uphold ethical standards, transparency, and responsible stewardship of resources, remaining accountable to communities, partners, and funders alike.

Evidence & Learning

Our solutions are grounded in data, research, and iterative learning, enabling us to adapt and achieve meaningful, measurable outcomes.

Inclusion & Equity

We centre women, youth, and underserved populations, ensuring access to opportunities and decision-making in climate solutions and economic systems.

Collaborative Action

We foster partnerships across sectors and disciplines, recognising that resilient communities emerge from collective, integrated efforts.

Our Strategic Pillars

FCAAI’s work is anchored in three interconnected pillars:

Climate Action & Environmental Resilience

Climate Action & Environmental Resilience

We support community-led climate adaptation and ecosystem restoration, with a focus on coastal resilience, nature-based solutions, and climate risk reduction that is scientifically informed and locally relevant.

Sustainable Agriculture & Food Systems

Sustainable Agriculture & Food Systems

Our approach to agriculture emphasises climate-smart practices, reduced post-harvest losses, clean energy integration, and market-inclusive innovations that increase productivity and incomes for smallholder farmers.

Community Resilience & Social Inclusion

FCAAI expands access to essential services—such as water, health, digital tools, and livelihood opportunities—while building local capacity and leadership that fosters inclusive development.

How We Work

Our programme implementation follows a structured, evidence-based logic:

01

Participatory Engagement

Co-design solutions with community stakeholders, ensuring relevance and ownership.

02

Data & Innovation

Apply appropriate technologies, research insights, and climate data to guide decisions.

03

Implementation Excellence

Deliver programmes that are scalable, cost-effective, and measurable.

04

Monitoring, Evaluation & Learning

Track performance against shared goals and adapt based on outcomes.

05

Knowledge Sharing

Publish insights, elevate local voices, and inform policy and practice across sectors.

Our Impact Commitment

FCAAI is committed to tracking measurable outcomes that demonstrate real change on the ground. We monitor progress using clear indicators, community feedback mechanisms, and transparent reporting. This ensures our programmes are accountable, outcomes-focused, and continuously improving.

Our Global & National Alignment

FCAAI’s strategy and programmes align with:

  • Nigeria’s National climate adaptation and food security agendas

  • Global frameworks such as the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)

  • International best practices in climate resilience and agricultural innovation

This alignment expands our relevance, enhances partner engagement, and supports scalable impact beyond local contexts.
